I've dreamt of the day when I could be a sports mom, driving my kids around in a truck to practices and games for baseball or soccer and cheering them on from the sidelines.
Levi made me a mom and he also made me a sports mom!
There's something special about having a little boy to share the sports team life with. And whether you as a parent used to play sports yourself or not, it's still so much fun to watch them be a part of something that develops character and physical skills.
Ever since Levi turned five I've been wanting to sign him up for some activities. Typical mom-guilt had me feeling like I was behind on the sign-up curve and he would be too big up against some of the other kids. Much to my surprise, he seems to be one of the teeniest ones on his team. I don't know why I stress sometimes. Pressures of Instagram and Facebook feeds have me like (insert embarrassed emoji). But then, I sip my wine, text my bff who gets me, and it's all OK.
Levi's first tee-ball game was today. It's spring here in NOVA, but it was not a picturesque spring day with flowers blooming and birds chirping. It was your typical "April showers" day, if you will. Cold, rainy, and muddy.
This past year, starting with Kindergarten last fall, has been quite a whirlwind. Lots of firsts have taken place: carpool lines, learning to read and write, taking swimming lessons and finally, joining tee-ball. It's all been wonderful.
Tee-ball has been a special edition to my heart, ending the school year on a high note and entering spring with a bang. I love the dirt and the sound of the bat hitting the ball while summer is just around the corner. Cotton candy and hot dogs for sale, and the heat creeping upon us.
